Ecologists expects a big interest at NutriFair
Økologisk Landsforening (Eng. Ecological National Union) offers free conversion check-up, presentation of contacts and general counseling at NutriFair in Fredericia.
In the early hours of Monday, December 19th, the phone would not stop ringing at Ecology Advisor Jens Peter Hermansen and his colleagues at Økologisk Landsforening, and it kept going all day, and the following days too. On the other line was his farmers, wanting to hear about the chances of converting to ecological operation. The reason was the disclosure of a forecast from Økologisk Landsforening, pointing towards a massive future need of extra ecological production, to match the consumers demand.
The plant production is an important subject in the forecast, but especially on the animal side, there are positive trends. Because of this, Jens Peter Hermansen does not doubt, that the enormous interest will reflect on the trade fair for livestock producers (NutriFair) in January, where Økologisk Landsforening exhibits with a big counseling-stand.
- We will attend NutriFair to meet the producers, who are very interested in hearing the chances to join, in what can only be called a story of success. We will also meet the producers, who are already converting, because we by checking the numbers, can predict that we would have more beef, poultry and more than 100.000 extra slaughter pigs next year, Jens Peter Hermansen tells. He continues:
- There is an absolute need for the livestock producers. If we look at the historic numbers, there has been a constant positive development within the market, and by looking just 2-3 years ahead, we are convinced, that the need will be bigger than it is today, Jens Peter Hermansen underlines. He adds, that an eventual conversion process will take time. That’s why, now is the time to begin, so you are ready, when the dairies and slaughter houses, once more need new producers of organic milk, pork, poultry and so on. - You should make a decision compared to the strategic development of your production, right now, the Ecology Advisor notes.
Thanks to funding, the visitors on NutriFair have the chance to book a free conversion checkup at Økologisk Landsforening. - We offer a Subject Advisor, to come and visit the enterprise, use a couple of hours on checking out the farm, the stable circumstances, the fields, the machines and so on. You will then talk about investing needs, time horizon, self-sufficiency and so on, by an eventual conversion. Everything is free and without any binding, and if you want to carry out your plans, you can cooperate with us, but you are also welcome to carry the sketches and ideas to your own farm union, if you prefer this, the Ecology Advisor underlines.
In addition to this, the National Union – as a link in helping the young people in the business – wants to conduct a meeting with agra-economical students from Dalum Landbrugsskole at NutriFair. The students examine the chances of alternatives to a conventional pig-production and has a big interest in the potential, within the organic pig-production.
- If other educational institutions wish a similar meeting, they should be more than welcome to contact me. We will, all things considered, make a line of initiatives towards educational institutions in the following years, to ensure producers for the increasing demand on organic goods, Jens Peter Hermansen ends.
