Emil takes participants on a journey that is about more than just sailing – it is about finding meaning, adventure and answers to life's big questions.

Emil Erichsen, known from the TV program “"Heading for distant shores", where he and his brother Theis sailed around the world for three years. For more than a decade, Emil has lived a life filled with adventure and challenges. He has sailed far and wide, skied 200 km in the Arctic and crossed half the globe with his family. But in his presentation at Maritime Days, Emil will go deeper and share a personal story about how adventure also exists in life when you are in the middle of a career and have family and obligations.

Emil tells how his search for adventure has become a journey both outward and inward. In the lecture “A search for adventure” He will delve into how he, from a young man with a dream of sailing around the world, today insists that the adventure never stops, even when life becomes more complicated with children, a job and responsibilities. Emil reflects on how his travels at sea have given him insight into life as a father, husband and adventurer.

“When I turn towards the sea, fix my gaze on infinity and instead look inward, it is with the hope of finding answers to some of the questions about family life, community, dreams and adventures that I struggle with. Since my frontal lobes began to grow together, these have been the biggest themes in my life. It is the continuous thoughts around these themes that I have linked to concrete experiences, and which I will talk about in this lecture.”
